Mindfulness Courses (Group and One-To-One)

Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) for Stress are structured group programmes that teaches mindfulness practices, such as meditation and yoga, to alleviate the suffering associated with stress. The programme is non-religious and is based upon a step-by-step personal development framework that develops enhanced awareness of our moment-to-moment experience in everyday life.

MBCT for Stress combines approximately ninety-five percent of the MBSR course and also utilises cognitive therapy exercises to look more closely at individuals' negative thought patterns and self-talk.

The course schedule consists of eight weekly classes and an optional practice day.

Shelly Arkless founder of The Mindful Road



Shelly Arkless
is the owner and founder of The Mindful Road.
Shelly has completed the work for a 5 year Master's degree in teaching mindfulness-based courses at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at the University of Bangor and also holds a Post-graduate Certificate of Competence to teach mindfulness-based courses. She has passionately delivered mindfulness courses for the last 5 years and has personally benefited from her own steady mindfulness practice. Shelly enjoys teaching MBSR/MBCT courses and workshops but has also designed and implemented successful mindfulness courses and workshops for specific business needs such as resilience and leadership. Shelly moved over from the United States just over 20 years ago and lives in the Midlands. She has mentored many of the mindfulness teachers in the midlands area..
 


Hazel Snowden
is a mindfulness trainer studying for a Master’s degree in Mindfulness-based approaches at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice, Bangor University. She has a degree in Psychology and Social Anthropology from Keele University,and a BSc in Occupational Therapy from Derby University. Hazel also has a certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy skills for Occupational Health Professionals from Brunel University.

Hazel has many years NHS experience as a clinical case-manager and occupational therapist in mental health, CFS and other life-changing health conditions.

Mindfulness is integral to Hazel’s personal and work life and she appreciates the benefits that daily practice brings. She is passionate about sharing mindfulness with others.
